Student Funding for Overseas Higher Education
a) Has already applied or secured an offer to a top foreign university? Or;
b) Thinking about applying soon to a top foreign university? Or;
c) Has already started your education at a top foreign university (in your first, second or third year etc.)?
Do you require funding (fully or partially) to complete your studies overseas?
London School of Economics & Political Science alumni Rachel Leong and Zhen Ning Yang (both Malaysians who were formerly bankers at Credit Suisse London) are exploring a mission-driven, but private-sector-led student funding programme to fund the top Malaysian students to pursue their undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies at best-in-class universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Stanford etc.
Rachel Leong is currently a Director of Group Strategy & Operations at Mah Sing Group, a leading property developer, but she is independently working on this private sector initiative to solve the current problem of student funding for overseas higher education. Due to the limited funding options currently available for Malaysian students to go overseas, Rachel is aiming to source such funding from private sector corporations (i.e. Bursa-listed industry leaders) who wish to build a pipeline of talent and engage in CSR activities. The funding may come in the form of loans and/or scholarships. More details will be provided in due course.
Rachel is currently collecting early applications from students via a simple online form, whilst she builds the official application portal due for completion in the next couple of months. Students who fall into either of the categories above are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible so that she is able to reach out to the students and understand their circumstances better.

WHY ARE WE COLLECTING SIGN UPS?
So that we can:
- Reach out directly to students to better understand their funding requirements
- Study and analyse the intricacies of the wider problem of student financing to assist us in building a feasible solution
- Present anonymized data to corporates to demonstrate the talent pool available for them to tap, specific to the corporations’ requirements i.e. degree, university raking
- Provide a convincing value proposition for corporates to participate in this funding programme
- Connect the students directly to participating corporates
