Do you know that...

Persuasive communication can be seen in religious communications since 'the beginning of time'. In Islam, it is referred to as "invite".

Allah says (Surat Fussilat [41:33]):

And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."

Surat An-Nahl [16:125]:

Invite [make da'wah] to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.

The Greeks started the concept of 'persuasion' or 'rhetoric' and it has been around for over 2500 years.

Persuasion works best when we are ready to be patient, ready to be quiet and ready to listen.

We may fail in persuading others if we believe we are better than them.

Persuasion can be coercive as well as subtle

A useful tip before we start:

Think about 'What to say...How to say...Why you are saying it...When you are saying it and WHO you are going to say it to.'
