Dear IIUM Community,

Assalamualaikum wrt. wbt.

ANNOUNCEMENT

 REGARDING ABANDONED VEHICLES ON CAMPUS

May you be in the best of health by the grace of Allah SWT.

The Office of Security Management (OSeM) has carried out security survey on abandoned vehicles in Gombak Campus.

We have identified the following factors that contribute to the increasing numbers of abandoned vehicles every year.

  1. Attitude

1.1    Staff members and students are not responsible to their vehicles and leave them unattended.

1.2    Students normally hand over the vehicles to others after graduation without proper procedures and the new owners fail to ensure that the vehicles are in good condition.

  1. Vehicles Maintenance

2.1 Inabilities of vehicle owners to do the maintenance, renewal of insurance and road tax of their cars.

  1. Breakdown

3.1 Students generally can’t afford to send their vehicles for repair in case of breakdown.

  1. International Students

4.1 International students buy and own vehicles without changing the ownership following the right procedure. Moreover, they leave their vehicles at University parking after graduation.

5.   Long Vacation (semester break)

5.1 International students leave their vehicles unattended during long vacation. It    opens many ways for crimes to happen.

The purpose of this announcement is to avoid any untoward incidents where people may remove some of the components from the vehicles and at the end of the day, only vehicle bodies are available and it becomes an eye sore to the IIUM Community.

Therefore, I would appreciate if the owners of the vehicles are more responsible and remove their vehicles as soon as possible. If the owners do not cooperate, the local government authority will be called and abandoned vehicles will be removed from the IIUM premises.

Your kindly cooperation is highly appreciated.

Thank you. Wassalam.
